17/12/14 Mark Ledger, Principle Prosthetist, fits Grace's new blades. After losing her legs and hand to meningococcal septicaemia in 2011, Grace Matthews, now seven, from Norwich, is fitted, and walks for the first time, on a pair of pink prosthetic blades. She is one of the first children in the world to wear mini blade XT prosthetic feet, similar to those worn by Paralympic athletes. Designed by British prosthetic manufacturer Blatchford, the mini blades will allow Grace to run for the first time in almost 4 years. They have also been custom finished in a vivid shade of pink; GraceÕs favourite colour. Today's fitting was at the Blatchford Clinic at the Leicester Specialist Mobility Centre.
