The first of two Santiago Calatrava bridges carries traffic over the Trinity Margaret Hunt Hill bridge was completed several months ago. The second bridge, the Margaret McDermott bridge, will also carry traffic over the Trinity on the I-30 freeway. That project is just underway. The third bridge planned for the I-35 traffic will not be designed by Calatrava but will incorporate some signature features of the first two bridges. The horseshoe project will cost $880M US for the redesign but is in part,a part of the Trinity Corridor development, a 20-mile corridor through downtown and the Great Trinity Forest . The Great Trinity Forest Gateway and Horse Trails opened today as part of the project. It is another $71M that will connect the new horse park equestrian center with other city trails to include the White Rock Lake Trail all the way to LBJ 635 expressway.
