Illustration of the Swiss chemist Kurt Wuthrich (born 1938). Wuthrich is best known for his development of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, a means of determining the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules such as proteins. Wuthrich received a share of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, along with John B Fenn and Koichi Tanaka, for this work.
