Devil scorpionfish (Inimicus didactylus) camouflaged on the seabed. This fish is found in the Indo-west Pacific. It lays in wait on the seabed until its prey, a small fish, is close enough to be engulfed with a sudden leap. Its dorsal fin contains spines linked to venom glands, which protects it from predators. The sting is extremely painful, but rarely fatal to humans. Photographed off Kapalai, Sabah, Malaysia.
