Bui John Brock-lesby, still professor emeritus, is rightly honored as theperson who has given to the college the most years of faithful laborin her faculty. At the time of his retirement, in 1**2, he had beenfor forty years professor in the department of mathematics, naturalphilosophy, and astronomy. The present Bishop of New Hampshire,. Within two years the college has been called to mournthe death of the only two members of the faculty (besides PresidentJackson) who have died in office, —the Rev. E. E. Johnson, Professorof English, the brilliancy and enthusiasm of whose genius was onlyequalled by his untiring devotion to duty; and Louis M. Cheesman,, Professor of Physics, who had in the short time of his studyand work given promise of a brilliant future. The faculty is at present constituted as follows : — The Rev. Geo.
