Charcoal The flavor of Whiskey

The town of Lynchburg Tenn home of Jack Daniel Whiskey. This charcoal was used and still is used to filter the whiskey though it to give the taste of the smooth whiskey. Oak wood is burned until small pieces of wood are left. The small pieces are then broken (charcoal) and are then added to a large filter tank were the whiskey is allowed to drain down through the charcoal. This is done several time to get the whiskey its color and taste.
