Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874 - 1936), known as Chesterton, in 1925 with characteristic crumpled hat, cape and cane (sword-stick). Chesterton was an English writer, philosopher, dramatist, poet, journalist, orator, lay theologian, biographer, Christian apologist, and literary and art critic. He is best known for works such as Orthodoxy (1908), the Father Brown stories (1910-1935), The Everlasting Man (1925), The Man Who was Thursday (1908), and The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904).
