MIDDLE EAST. South-Western Asia. Hadhramaut. Shows Trucial Oman (UAE) 1952 map
South-Western Asia. Artist/engraver/cartographer: John Bartholomew . Provenance: "The Citizen's Atlas of the World"; by John Bartholomew; Published by John Bartholomew & Son limited, Edinburgh; 10th Edition. Type: Vintage colour map; Scale 1:10,000,000. The map shows the Jordanian-occupied West Bank. Jordanian occupation of the West Bank refers to the occupation and annexation of the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) by Jordan (formerly Transjordan), during a period of nearly two decades (1948–1967) in the aftermath of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In 1948, the Arab Legion conquered the Old City of Jerusalem and took control of territory on the western side of the Jordan River, including the cities of Jericho, Bethlehem, Hebron and Nablus. Jordan’s annexation was regarded as illegal and void by the Arab League and others. It was recognized only by Britain, Iraq and Pakistan. The Qu'aiti sultans ruled the vast majority of Hadramaut, under a loose British protectorate, the Aden Protectorate, from 1882 to 1967, when the Hadhramaut was annexed by South Yemen.
