Penshurst Place in 1904. Penshurst Place manor house is ancestral home of the Sidney family. It stands near Tonbridge, Kent, 32 miles (51 km) south east of London (UK). It has featured as a location in a number of historic film and TV movies and was historically known as Penecestre or Penchester as in the name of Stephen de Penecestre, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. The gardens and parts of the house are open to the public as is the toy museum
