Grave relief. Local, Macedonian Marble. Found at Sandanski, formerly Agioi Anargyroi, in southern Bulgaria. Depiction of the busts of a family of four. The relief was discovered on a site on which a Christian church was built in the 19th century. The villagers interpreted the figures of the two children as Saints Kosmas and Damian, the Agioi Anargyroi, and incised the inscriptions next to the two children. Between them is recorded the date of the foundation of the church. The grave relief dates from the middle of the 3rd century AD.
