There are several civilian and army onlookers stood around many of whom have arrived on bicycles. In the case of the IIE Cody was a passenger in the aircraft as he was teaching Fletcher to fly at the time. Cody broke his shin bone as well as being badly bruised and concussed, Fletcher was largely uninjured. Unfortunately Frank Cody was hurt in a cycling accident after seeing the crash and racing home to tell his mother. Father and son arrived at home in ambulances shortly after one another.
