The onion plant bug, Labopidea allii Knight, is not usually of any great impor- mon on wild onions and wild garlic, but perhaps may be considered a beneficial insect in this respect rather than a plant pest. The phlox plant bug, Lopidea davisi Knight, breeds on wild phlox but is often found colonizing on cultivated phlox and causing serious injury to these ornamental plants. The bug can be controlled by the use of a nicotine spray or dust, or by pyrethrum.
