Symptoms.—Pain in the neighborhood of and over the endof the bone is the most frequent manifestation of a deformedcoccyx. It is greatly increased when the patient lies upon ahard cot, sits on a hard chair, or rides in a street-car. Whenanterior displacement is present, constipation and defecationaggravate the condition. Suffering is greatest just beforestool, and is greatly relieved by it. When there is ulceration. In some instances it has been necessary to fracturethe bone or remove it during labor in order to deliver the case of severe scalp wound in an infant, caused duringlabor by a deformed coccyx, has been recorded.
