Taxol. Polarised light micrograph of crystals of taxol. Taxol is a chemotherapeutic drug which was discovered in 1992. It is found in the bark of the Pacific Yew (Taxus brevifolia), but is now made synthetically. Taxol has been found effective against some tumours, notably breast and ovarian. Taxol is used to treat ovarian, breast, pancreatic and non-small cell lung cancer. Horizontal object size of this section: mm.
