A group of devotees and pilgrims have come from a distant village and are dancing and singing their way through the streets of Palani in the south India state of Tamil Nadu during the annual Hindu Thaipusam festival. They are celebrating the youngest son of Shiva, Lord Murugan's birthday and will ultimately ascend the steps to his temple in Palani.
