We publish in Figure 1 a cut wherethe air from the outside is taken intothe room. It will be observed that theair is well distributed through the fluesurface of the radiator. Dampers arein that base that can be suitably adjust-ed to the temperature outside and if themercury should happen to drop cleanout of sight, as frequently happens, thedamper can be closed and the radiatorwill then act as a regular direct radiator.—D.
