020419-N-9421C-002 Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, WA (Apr. 19, 2002) -- Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Chad Wascom from New Orleans, LA, feeds an air line to divers in the water who are attaching lines from a crane to one of the four 64,000 pound screws which move USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) at speeds in excess of 30 knots on the open sea. Carl Vinson and her crew are conducting a Planned Incremental Availability (PIA) designed to install new technology and extend the operational capability of the ship. When completed, Carl Vinson will return to her homeport at Naval Station Bremerton, WA.
