Gift of Capt. H. C. Chester. Cat. No. 26,809 FIG. 50. NOANK CEXTEKBOARD SLOOP. Model of lobster boat. This model represents a class of sloop-rigged boats in general use at Muscongus Bay, Me. They are employed in the general fish- eries of the coast, but have been found exceedingly well adapted for the lobster fishery, for which they are specially designed. They are remarkably good sailers, fine sea boats, and perfectly manageable without jib. This is a wooden, carvel-built, centerboard, open, sloop-rigged boat; long, sharp bow; broad beam; moderately sharp floor; fine run; overhanging, square stern; short deck forward, under it a cuddy for crew's sleeping quarters and also for storage of lobsters.
