A French heavy burgonet, circa 1600. Two-piece forged heavy skull with twelve ridges. Low comb with heavy corded and turned under rim. The point ends in an acorn-shaped knob. Two-piece movable visor with separate eye slits. Nine ventilation holes form a rosette on each side. Movable bevor with a brass latching hook on the right side. Gorget has a turned under and corded rim. Surrounded with brass lining rivets. Surfaces are heavily pitted in places with minor defects.
