A Venetian officer's schiavona, 1st half of the 17th century. Slender blade with triple fullers running its full length on both sides, with an inscription, very difficult to read, "..in Toledo"(?) stamped in the groove. Iron lattice basket hilt with the Venetian arsenal mark. Grip cover with the original lavish silver wire winding and braided ferrules. Massive silver, cat's head pommel bearing a man's head, flanked by two hovering cupids, on each side.
