Lisfranc fracture. X-ray of the foot of a 36 year old female patient with a Lisfranc fracture. The metatarsals (toe bones) are fractured at their bases and have become displaced. This is a rare injury that may occur if the foot is held in a strap or stirrup during a fall. Treatment is with immobilisation of the joints, either externally using a cast, or internally using pins.
