London, UK . 15th Feb, 2014. The Thames Barrier was raised again today to protect against predicted tidal surge. The closure being one of 30 such closures since 6 December 2013, representing one fifth of the total closures since its opening in 1982. The action is being taken in an attempt to relieve pressure from some of the areas worst hit by recent flooding between Kingston-upon-Thames in West London and Oxford.
