On the other hand, especially if they have glass in the side viralls, the shorter houses will be rather easier to heat if the two are built with one wall in common. It would be advisable to use a hot water boiler rated at about 4,000 square feet of radiation. The size of the grate will vary with different boilers, but it will generally be between ten and twelve square feet for a boiler of this capacity. If steam is to be used, the boiler should be of about the same size. This boiler will be of approximately twenty-five horsepower. To heat a house 56x96 feet, with three feet of glass in one side wall, to 60 degrees when the temperature is at 28 degrees above zero, it would be ad- visable to use five 2iA-inch flow pipes and fifteen 2-inch returns.
