The Goblin and the Sexton
English novelist Charles Dickens (1837-1870) published his first novel "The Pickwick Papers" in 10 installments of three chapters each. The first installment appeared in 1836. The illustrator was Hablot Browne. Browne's pseudonym was Phiz; Dickens' was Boz. Note the name Phiz underneath this illustration of Browne titled "The Goblin and The Sexton."
