Hietalahti Shipyard is specialized in building cruise ships, car ferries and icebreakers. It is owned by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy. It is the only shipyard in Finland with fully covered dock. Arctech is owned by a Russian shipyard company (United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC). The Hietalahti Shipyard will continue to build ships even when large residential areas are being built in the neighboring Jätkäsaari and Hernesaari areas.
