Caribbean peoples. 17th-century artwork showing several Caribbean and South American peoples. At upper right, a warrior prepares for war. At upper left, a hunter is killing fish with a bow and arrows. A tribal dance is at lower right, with an Amazonian woman and child at lower left. This engraving is from Book II of 'Voyages en Afrique, Asie, Indes orientales et occidentales' (1617) by the French explorer Jean Mocquet (). This 442-page work, divided into six books, described Mocquet's travels in Africa, Asia, and the West and East Indies.
