All tools for wheel and axle work are in a specialbuilding. They consist of two Xiles car wheel boring ma-chines of the latest type, a large wheel press, a journal turn-ing lathe, two axle lathes and a journal polishing lathe. All aredriven by direct current motors and are arranged as shownin the accompanying illustration. The building is so located. Wheel Shop Before Storage Tracks were in Place. that there is ample storage room on all sides of it and of stock in and out of it will be either by tracks orby hand. The storage of old wheels will be in the yard justwest of the building and they will be rolled in to the wheelpress on the special track. From this point the good wheelswill be taken directly to the boring mill and scrap wheelswill be rolled out of the building to a scrap platform on thenorth side. The axles will be taken from the press by a trol-ley and distributed in front of the axle machines or if con-demned will be taken to the scrap platform. New wheels willbe stored at the south of the building and will be rolled in tothe boring machine by hand. Wheels leaving the boring ma-chines will be stored at the east end of the building near thewheel press located in the northeast corner.
