Kurds hold flags supporting Ocalan and the YPG defence force on one of the lions in Trafalgar Square at the rally including many from London's international and migrant communities celebrating International Workers Day. There were speeches by a number of trade unionists and activists and included a short silence in memory of Mehmet Aksoy who was killed in Syria whilst filming with Kurdish fighters and had spoken for the Kurds at previous events. At the end of the rally there was a speech by Brixton Ritzy trade unionist Kelly Rogers victimised by Picturehouse and the various precarious workers groups who had met at the rally to begin a march around London moved towards the platform in support.
