A decommissioned K6 telephone box surrounded by razor wire on a rural road in Kent, UK


The once numerous red telephone boxes across the United Kingdom are becoming rare (2024). Many have found new uses, but this one has been abandoned with the glass windows removed and surrounded by razor boxes, or kiosks were originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the architect responsible for Liverpool Cathedral. The derelict box here is a familiar K6 type introduced in 1936 and designed to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of George V
