Demons try to rouse the sleeping Kumbhakarna by hitting him with weapons and clubs and shouting in his ear, whilst women play musical instruments. Finally the giant awakes and, to satisfy the monster's ravenous hunger, great heaps of meat (dead animals and monkeys) and pitchers of wine, fat and blood have been placed ready.
