March 2010. The Cambridge guided busway is paralysed. The busway due to open in 2009 between Cambridge and St Ives is now involved in a legal wrangle between Cambridgeshire County Council and the contractors BAM Nuttall ( BNL ). The council are claiming that because of delays and a flooding cycleway ( seen here near fen Drayton lakes) and footpath the busway is expected to cost more than £53 million more than the budgeted target cost of £87 million. The legal wrangles could take up to five years to resolve and cost a further £5 million. Images show the busway to nowhere as it crosses the flat fenland north of Cambridge towards Oakington, Longstanton and on to Fenstanton near St Ives.
