A view of one of the pergolas and part of the circular Sandringham Memorial Garden in Hyde Park. The garden was commenced in 1953 as a joint project of the city and state governments and was designed by Sydney sculptor Lyndon Raymond Dadswell and architect, Henry Epstein. The garden and a central fountain were built as a memorial to the late King George V and King George VI and opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 5 Feb 1954 while on a royal tour.
