The region just above this is known as The Arctic and below is known as the Northern Temperate Zone. The equivalent in the south is known as the Antarctic. the land to the north is the land of the midnight sun, because for at least 24hours the sun is visible a full day and night. In winter it is the opposite, it remains dark for a whole day and night. While in the antarctic it is the reverse. They are known as the summer solstice and the winter solstice.
