NASA recovery team and Navy divers prepare the Orion next generation space capsule for an open ocean recovery test in the well deck of the USS John P. Murtha November 1, 2018 in the Pacific Ocean. NASA and the Navy has not performed open ocean recovery of a manned space capsule since the Apollo project in the 60's and are testing procedures and hardware that will be used to recover the Orion spacecraft after it splashes down in the Pacific Ocean following future deep space exploration missions.
