According to Norse mythology, Bragi was the husband of Idun. Idun was known as being very wise, kind, and good, and so had the task of watching over the golden apples. It was these apples that kept the deities of Asgard - the Norse home and capital of the gods youthful, as by eating them, they would never grow old. This 1905 illustration shows Bragi (left) playing a type of lyre and Idun (right) tending the apples.
