Akbar the Great


Akbar was the Mughal (also spelled Mogul) emperor of India from 1556 to 1605. The grandson of Babur, he enlarged his original domain in north central India to include all of north India and what is today Afghanistan. He was known for his administrative reforms and religious tolerance. This Indian miniature showing Akbar was crafted in Delhi.
