For some timeprevious to 1772 Tetuan was the residence ofthe foreign representatives, but in that year they wereordered to Tangier, as considerable ill-feeling towardsthe Christians had arisen in consequence of the accidentalshooting of a Moorish woman by an Englishman, whenhunting in the neighbourhood.
