One can well believe the remark of a prominent Sydneygentleman, who had seen the decorations in London on theoccasion of the Queens Jubilee Procession, when he observed, Nothing in London ever approached wuthin measurabledistance of this remarkable scene. He referred to thequadrangle of grouped masts at the intersection of Moore-street, Martin Place, and Pitt-street. The tops of the masts were surmounted by parti-coloredstandard flags, and from a lofty central elevation were droopedfestoons in the form of a canopy. In a word, the intersectionof the three streets, formed a huge canopy, worked out in blueand gold, the colours of the Governor-General, and presentinga dazzling- scene of beautv. In addition to these weredisplayed shields, showing- the Governor-Generals coat ofarms, interspersed with the shields of other nations. The whole leng^th of Martin Place was embellished withtall \enetian masts carrying triple festoons, whilst thecolours of the Governor-General and national colours formedborders around shields. Groups of flags also adorned themasts. Post Office Decorations and Illuminations. In view of the brilliant character of the street decorationsof Martin Place, it would be instituting odious comparisonsif an attempt were made to rival them by a daylight displayof bunting on the magnificent front of the Gener
