Crude oil tanker. Close-up of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) being built in a dry dock, showing sections of the hull being welded together. This ship is a third of a kilometre long (approximately 330 metres). Crude oil carriers are among the largest tankers, with ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs) reaching over 440,000 deadweight metric tons (DWT). Ships such as VLCCs and ULCCs, with sizes above 250,000 DWT, are informally known as supertankers. Photographed at Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, the world's largest shipyard.
