Unmanned combat air vehicle. An X-47B unmanned combat air system demonstrator (UCAS-D) completing its first flight. This aircraft is designed to operate from an aircraft carrier. It is metres long with a wingspan of nearly 19 metres, which reduces to metres when the wings are folded. Sea trials of the aircraft started in 2012.
