MYTHOLOGY - THE FATES-A woman asking the fates to give her children long lives - Also known as the moirai / Moirae were the three goddesses of fate who controlled the destiny of man, giving each person his or her fate or share in the scheme of things. Their name means "Parts." "Shares" or "Alotted Portions." Individually they were known as Clotho (or Klotho) the spinner; Lakhesis or Lachesis who apportioned lots and measured length cloth threads , and Atropos or Aisa who had the power to cut cords short (Death). All were controlled in mythology by Zeus Moiragetes, the overall god of fate.
