If the graduate instructionis to be given in the period from about December 1stto about April 1st it will be possible for practicinghighway engineers, especially first, second, and thirdyear graduates, to use the winter period advantage-ously in acquiring advanced knowledge under favor-able circumstances. It is gratifying to the highway engineering profes-sion and that portion of the public interested in thedevelopment of good roads and streets throughout theTnited States that Columbia University should havedecided tr> establisli graduate courses in hiahwav en-.
