He con-tinued his labors uninterruptedly until 1889,when he returned to his native country andvisited his parents and friends, remaining forone year in the Old World. He also went toScotland and Ireland, visiting the importantcities of those countries and other points ofhistoric and modern interest, and also spenttwo weeks in the city of London. In 1890. ME. Mr. Quartley married while abroad, havingfor fourteen years been in eorespondence withthe lady whom he made his wife. It was onthe 1th of February, 1893, that he was joinedin wedlock to Miss Marian Pish, who was bornin England, hut was of Scotch lineage. Herfather was a farmer of England, and they weremarried in the Id church in her native was born in Elworthy and had remainedunder the parental roof until she gave herhand in marriage- to Mr. Quartley. Theysailed from Liverpool on the 8th of February,and on the steamship Majestic they arrived inthe New York harbor on the 16th of thatmonth.
