ATLANTIC OCEAN (Oct. 1, 2016) Sailors and their loved ones watch as an F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the Fighting Checkmates of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 211, performs an arrested landing on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Washington is underway for a family and friends day cruise. George Washington is homeported in Norfolk after serving seven years in Yokosuka, Japan, as the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
