Blue hazy sky sunshine view ice floes on calm high tide seawater, across River Ribble Estuary, Fairhaven, Lytham, Lancashire, UK

The winter of 2010-2011 included the coldest December since Met Office Records began in 1910. The mean December 2010 temperature was minus 1 degree Celsius. In some places the temperature was down to minus 10 degrees Celsius (14 F). Late November to Boxing Day 2010 included two spells of severe winter weather in the UK with very low temperatures and significant snowfall. The beach between Fairhaven and St Annes, on Lancashire's Fylde Coast, displayed large areas of sea ice, several centimetres thick. Blue hazy sky, white clouds, sunshine view, across the River Ribble Estuary towards Southport, ice floes expanse on calm, high tide seawater near the west end of the Outer Promenade around Fairhaven Lake, Lytham St Annes.
