ANCHUSA ANNUAL 'BLUE BIRD' The perennial Anchusa, in its highest development the Dropmcwe variety, is deservedly popular by its lovely bright blue flowers, its floriferousness and long period of bloom. This esteem has been shared to some extent by the annual An- chusa, but its straggly habit has always been a drawback, especially for small gardens. This fault has been entirely eliminated in our novelty, which grows about 18 inches high, is of compact habit and bears its flowers in a luxuriant bou- quet at the top of the plant. The latter are of a vivid indigo blue and of brilliant effect in any scheme for the decoration of beds and borders. Price Pkt., 25c. DIANTHUS SWEET WIVELSFIELD A new hardy annual, good for borders, as a cut flower and especially adapted for rock gardens. Pkt., 25c. SALVIA SPLENDENS 'HARBINGER' As the most brilliant of all bedding plants the Salvia well deserves its pride of place. A certain tardiness to come into bloom and a paucity of flowers in some varieties have been drawbacks, but these are quite overcome in this variety which we introduce. Plants raised from seed sown at the end of February commence to produce in profusion their long spikes of dazzling bright scarlet flowers early in June, and maintain a blaze of colour until the frosts. A more magnificent article for summer bedding can hardly be imagined. The plant are dwarf and compact in habit and the strong dark foliage forms an effective foil to the vivid hue of the flowers. We consider this one of the finest novelties. It received an Award of Merit (unanimous) from the R. H. S. in 1925. Many exper- ienced growers state their opinion that 'Harbinger' will henceforth be the premier Salvia in cultivation. Price Pkt. 25c Page Two
