Hepatitis C polymerase enzyme, molecular model showing secondary structure. This protein is the NS5b RNA polymerase found in the virus hepatitis C (genotype-1b, strain J4). It plays a key role in the replication of this virus, producing RNA (ribonucleic acid) from DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Hepatitis C affects the liver in humans. This protein, also classified as a transferase, consists of two chains. It contains 570 amino acids.
