Commander Roy Joseph Balaconis, commanding officer of the guided missile destroyer USS MITSCHER (DDG-57), speaks with members of the press during a precommissioning briefing. The ship will be commissioned on December 10th. The Commander is wearing a Khaki ball cap like the one worn by the ship's namesake, Admiral Marc Mitscher, during World War Two.
