The ex-penditure of a billion dollars for this war represents adollar for every minute that has passed since the birthof Christ to the close of 1900. But this war has costone hundred twenty-five times that sum, which meansthat in three and a half years these nations have spenta sum equal to one hundred twenty-five dollars for everyminute of the Christian era.
