The day began with a cold, dreary rain, which continued until late in the night. Many people who otherwise would have been out and buying stayed'«t home. Local florists are satisfied, however, and their stock was about cleaned up by Saturday night. There was a scar- city of good bulbous stock, on account of the late season, and much that was shown had suffered from being held too long. Spirsea plants were much in demand, with not enough to go around. Various Notes. Jacob Schulz showed some fine tree- shaped azaleas. Some of them were trimmed in pyramid shape and were from two to three feet tall. Mrs. M. D. Reimers attracted much attention by her window display of a beautiful white cross. This cross was about five feet long and consisted of white chiffon, in which several electric lights were buried. Henry Fuchs' store was so crowded with stock that he had to rent a vacant store next door, in which to keep his surplus. He reported everything sold by Saturday. Local nurserymen and seedsmen re- port an unusually good season. The many new residences going up in the suburbs, with the reviving popularity of the old-fashioned garden, have added to the sale of nursery stock and seed. Simon Pontrieh, the Parkland florist and nurseryman, is kept pretty busy these days in putting in hedges. He is in a good suburban district and is well patronized. The
